LEADing Learning Issue 24

On Thursday August 2, twenty six girls from Years 3 – 6 performed in the Christian Dance section of the Catholic Performing Arts Festival at the Chapel of St Brigid, Mercy College Koondoola. There were 15 other Primary Schools participating in this event.

The students worked diligently throughout their lunchtimes on Tuesdays and Thursdays with Mrs Muir to learn and perfect their Dance to the beautiful, prayerful song ‘Mary did you know’ by Asia Monet Ray.

The song questions what Mary would have gone through being the mother of the only begotten son of God on earth, and the students creatively portrayed this through their soft liturgical movement.

Year 5 student Taisen Carlino and Year 6 student Minnie Cooper cleverly assisted Mrs Muir in choreographing the routine, which the students performed with feeling and grace.

The girls were a stand out performance in their section, and for this they earned a Certificate of Excellence from the adjudicator, Mrs Angela Perry. Winners of each section will be announced in September.

Congratulations to all involved.’
