Catholic Primary School
Message from the Principal – Issue 19
Dear Parents, Caregivers and Community Members,
“Direct your life with purposeful choices, not with speed and efficiency.
The best musician is the one who plays with expression and meaning,
not the one who finishes first.
Talk slower. Talk less. Don’t talk.
Communication isn’t measured by words.
Give yourself permission to be casual sometimes.
Life is for living not scheduling.
Take time to think.
Action is good and necessary, but is fruitful only if we muse, ponder and reflect.
Make time for play, the things you like to do.
Whatever your age, your inner child needs re-creation.
Take time out. Let God love you.”
It’s hard to believe we are halfway through the year and about to have our mid-year break! I know that students, teachers and parents are all feeling the tiredness of a busy term and are looking forward to the holidays to refresh and recharge, ready to continue our 2018 learning journey together. It has been a very busy term, with a focus on many celebrations. I take this opportunity to thank my amazing, wonderful, dedicated and super talented staff, for their hard work and commitment to our St Luke’s family. I wish to also thank our very supportive, caring and passionate parents, for their continual contribution to our school.
We wish to advise the school dates for the start of Term 3, are as follows:
MONDAY 16 July 2018 Pupil Free Day
A very big thank you also to our P&F for being a beacon of light for our school community. They work tirelessly to keep us engaged through a weekly newsletter and raise funds so we can continually improve school resources and the learning journey of all children in our school. You have been an amazing support for all of us!
Thank you to the School Board for their support in my endeavours to have a future focus for our school. All our Board members do a tremendous job in making many important financial decisions and keeping our school financially viable.
Finally, I wish to thank each child at St Luke’s for contributing something very special and wonderful. We are so proud of all the outstanding work you have completed and thank you for being such beautiful, caring and amazing little people.
We wish Mrs Peach, Mrs Vella-Vedova and Mr Baker all a wonderful long service leave. We wish them a very restful time away!
Last Friday, our team of cross country runners competed in the annual Cross Country Interschool Carnival. I cannot commend our runners enough for the fabulous manner in which they conducted themselves, both in their events and whilst supporting other runners. St Luke’s students displayed fantastic sportsmanship, encouragement and commitment and I was exceptionally proud to be associated with such a wonderful group of kids and I’m sure all those who attended would agree.
Congratulations to our inaugural St Luke’s Gymnastics Team who from all reports competed in the true St Luke’s spirit. Again, we have much to celebrate and to be proud of as our team of girls won the ‘Team Spirit’ award and came first place competing against many other talented schools. A special thank you and congratulations to Mrs Pudelek and Mrs Santoro for training the girls and to Mrs Pollard for being our school teacher representative at the meet yesterday. Awesome achievement everyone!
New Contemporary Furniture for Years 5 and 6
It was great to see Years 5 and 6 receiving their new contemporary classroom furniture today and now that completes the whole school transition. The children were very excited and so too the teachers! I wish to thank Mrs Jackie Hunt for coordinating and ordering the furniture in consultation with each of the class teachers and thank you to our School Board for approving the purchase of the furniture.
Car Park Speed Limit
Can I please ask all parents and grandparents who use the school car park to make sure they slow down as you enter and leave as I have noticed some drivers doing at least 40km/h. The safety of all children getting out of cars is all our concern.
House Points Announcement End of Term Two
I am very happy to announce that Laurence has won this term’s House Raffle Ticket Prize and will be provided with a FREE sausage sizzle and drink lunch this Friday.
