Parents please be aware that we have had a few students who have contracted School Sores (Impetigo) in the past few weeks. Impetigo is a common, acute bacterial infection of the skin caused by staphylococcal or streptococcal bacteria. Symptoms include itchy pustules and scabs. This disease is highly contagious.
Please click on the Dept of Health website for further details- https://healthywa.wa.gov.au/Articles/F_I/Impetigo-school-sores
If you think your child has symptoms of this disease please check with your doctor. They will need to given antibiotics and will not be able to return to school until 24hrs after they have commenced the course and all lesions must be covered with a waterproof dressing.
